Dresses are great. They are an outfit in their own right, and always look good. Yet many women, on tight budgets, avoid buying them.
There are several reasons for this. Some believe that it is an expensive way to buy clothes. Others feel that dresses are not versatile enough, and others find it hard to find a style they like.
Well I hope to change your mind. I have discovered dresses are actually a great way to look chic even if you are broke.
Right let’s look at the biggest issue – the cost. There is some truth in the idea that dresses are expensive, but they need not be. Just take a look at these fantastic skater dresses, there are loads there that cost as little as $25. If you wait for the sales, you can easily buy a dress for $15, or less. You would be hard pressed to buy a pair of trousers and a top for that price. Therefore, dresses can actually be a cheap way of putting together a beautiful outfit.
Dresses are versatile
The other thing that puts people off is the idea that dresses are not versatile enough. This is an understandable misconception, because you can clearly see that a top can be worn with a range of different shorts, skirts, jeans or trousers. As a result, you know for sure that you can get a lot of wear out of a top.
Well the good news is that you can do the same with a dress. By choosing to wear it with different jackets, cardigans and shawls, you can also create several different outfits.
Changing the accessories you use can also transform a dress into several outfits. For example, taking a plain jersey dress, adding a nice belt, some good costume jewellery, a sophisticated clutch, and court shoes can turn it into a glamorous outfit for a classy dinner date.
Everyone can look good in dresses
An awful lot of women believe that they cannot wear a dress. Perhaps they have varicose veins, are overweight, or feel that they cannot wear the right type of shoes because of problems with their feet. Well do not worry because all of these issues can easily be overcome. For example, if you are worried about various veins, just wear tights or cover them with makeup.
This feeling is understandable. If you have accidently bought the wrong kind of dress and caught a look at yourself in a shop window the chances are you have put yourself off wearing them for life.
We have all done that, but I urge you to give dresses another go. Put aside a few hours and go dress shopping.
If you are unsure what type to try on ask the assistant for help. Most are trained to pick out clothing to suit the body shape of the customer in front of them.
Choosing the right style for your body shape is the key to wearing a dress well. This style guide is also very good. I would suggest reading it before you go shopping. It will help you to quickly zone in on the best dresses for you.
