An fame-hungry ex-fashion mogul with a serious penchant for fur is pitted against her mobility-scooter-powered nemesis in a garish cinematic tale of fame, fashion and revenge starring Sadie Frost (of Coppola’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula fame) and Sally Phillips (of best-British-comedienne-after-Miranda Hart fame). What’s not to love?
Animal Charm is the debut feature film from fashion filmmaker and photographer Ben Charles Edwards. Low-budget and replete with macabre humour, its credits boast the brightest stars from David Morgan (Director of Photography from the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) to Boy George (who – irony ahoy – plays a less than compassionate police officer, apparently) in a narrative that manages to incorporate everything from animal rights activists to a musical based on George Orwell’s literary classic, Animal Farm.

I really can’t say the trailer is up to all that much but the whole premise sounds absolutely starkers mad and considering Edwards’ previous achievements (a fashion film with Giles Deacon for Vogue Italia and two exhibitions at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art), it’s bound to intrigue.
