Pre-LFW Packing: Fashion Week Essentials.

April 15, 2013
Sooo, should probably be brushing up on the ol’ Deutsch at this stage considering my last ever German oral exam is taking place at this time tomorrow but, you know, I’m nothing if not prone to procrastination unpredictable. Instead, I’ve opted to share with you the bones of my LFW survival kit. No, this is not intended as one of those comprehensive guides that other blogs and online mags do so well, but rather a brief snapshot of what keeps me buzzing rather than bailing from show to show…and no, there’s no cheeky bags of Charlie hidden away anywhere…

^ An overview of the essentials, from what I need to what I need to wear.

^ It’s difficult to traipse around central London for an entire day and retain the just-showered-scent or lack thereof you first had in the morning, hence, a splash from Tom Ford. This scent, Extreme, is not as overpowering as it sounds and attracts compliments whenever I wear it. Win.
^ Shitty on-the-blink LG Viewty which looks sexy but decides to have a laugh with me any time I need to actually get something done. No, I won’t be tweeting with this temperamental twat of a phone, but it will hopefully enable me to catch up with London folk in between shows.
^ I’m not expecting either the Stansted Express or the Picadilly Line to proffer much entertainment so re-reading the v. eloquent and engaging Alicia Drake’s The Beautiful Fall will keep me occupied. For those of you who aren’t familiar, it’s a mix of biographies of Yves Saint Laurent and Karl Lagerfeld as well as an insight into the heady setting of 1970s Paris.
^ Trusty Moleskin and Staedtler biro to pretend I’m important enough to be taking notes. Oh, and Carmex so as to never have to re-visit the chapped pain of my first season at fashion week. That was rough.

^ After two seasons of looking hot-and-bothered in an embarrassing amount of layers, I’ve made the much more sensible decision of not trying too hard this time ’round: jumper from New Look, vest from American Apparel, snood from H&M, jeans from Bershka, boots (see above) by Grafters and bag (see above) from ASOS.
There you have it. All this, a lot of caffeine, and a cocktail or ten two should stand me in reasonably good stead. Oh and I know I’m going on an awful lot for just one day of shows but it wouldn’t be very fashionable if I was actually happy about going to London Fashion Week now would it? ; )

Viel Glueck fuer morgen. Ich werde auch da sein am Wedesday, wenn ich dich sehe stelle ich mich vor. Dass Buch klingt sehr interessant. Ich habe gerade einen blog entdeckt waehrend ich den Russian designer Gosha Rubinsky researched habe and thought of your move to Berlin again. Die intressiert dich vielleicht. The sentences are so long in German, actually I am quite happy that I do not need to learn it. Well, ja, the blog is called http://www.catch-fire.com/ and I think they are from Berlin but not sure, but they write especially about Berlin as you will see when you have look. It is in English. I want to learn German…. at some point. The book looks interesting, duly added to my endless amazon wishlist. I love your sensible choice of clothes, and a good mix of high street with the high end cologne (I always splash out when it comes to the scent!), well, its nearly over, but hope you're surviving and i look forward to posts! the new look sweater is such a great colour.

Hope you had a good time in London, unfortunately I did not see you. I never looked for a flat in Germany nor Berlin. But for Berlin go for Prenzlauer Berg district ( district in Berlin is called 'kiez' but that is sehr berlinerisch) it is the most trendy and still the best, or Mitte, Friedrichshein is always hailed as up-and coming especially for students but do not move there my girlfriend said it is boring. Berlin is big but you will see there are just few areas which have a good cosmopolitan vibe. Berlin can be like a village sometimes. The most multicultural area in Berlin is still Kreuzberg, it has always been the cultural hot spot in Berlin and compared to Prenzlauer Berg it is more alternative but missing in my opinion the fashionable bit every big city has. In Kreuzberg the Paul-Linke- Ufer and Maybachufer which are on a canal in Kreuzberg are very sought after. One tip take your time for flats in Berlin you will see the choice is brilliant and you can get amazing flats for very little money. The Fashion Philosopher

Blau: Really!? Wo genau? Und hat das Spass gemacht?Zoe: Thanks! Yes, the scent succeeded in distracting most from my worn face and sodden clothing.Fashion Philosopher: Danke! Ich suche schon auf WG-Gesucht.de. Hoffentlich werde ich etwas schnell nach dem Umzug finden.Syed: And I forgot it! Well, I forgot I couldn't carry it in cabin luggage so it got left behind!
