…in the designer collaborations stakes at least. Although I’m tempted to be swept up in all this all-engulfing Lanvin x H&M collaboration buzz, I find the whole premise does little else bit promise mediocrity. As much as Alber Elbaz reiterates how much fun he had fusing fast and luxury fashion, I don’t think I can rely on both parties’ guarantee that this collab. is going to marry the luxe of Lanvin with the drastically lower price-tag of H&M. A joint venture much more trustworthy is the third installment of ASOS’ Best of British for Autumn Winter 2010.
Featuring East London-based up-and-comers (Katie Eary) to long-respected heritage brands (Lodger), this third collection not only allows for emerging British designers to break into the commercial arena (an opportunity that unfortunately eludes many), whilst also providing us with the chance of securing some of favourite Made in Britain work at a much more affordable price-point. Without further ado, here’s what I think is most worth your wages…
^ Peter Jensen Union Jack Jacket – €273.68. The easiest way to say this is: If I were a jacket, this would be me.
^ Lodger Exclusive to ASOS Tavistock Brogue Boots – €590.90. Love this rare shade of burgundy. Boot cravings rear their money-scoffing heads once again…
^ David David for Corgi Cubed Cardigan – €398.08. Not my favourite colours but the promise of enveloping cosiness is enticing.
^ Cambridge Satchel Company 15″ Batchel – €139.33. Christmas gift material *nudgenudgewinkwink*
