Ok, so the topic at hand here may not be the most menswear-relevant but having spent several hours during the past few days enthralled in the earlier episodes of Gossip Girl, I just have to. The exceedingly popular series, which centres on the antics and troubles of NYC Upper East Side’s school-going elite is quite pleasurable to watch, especially considering its wealth(no pun intended) of sartorial excellence and characters epitomising innate NY class. Never have the male denomination of a TV series been so obsessed with dress and, I must admit, I love it.

Simply smart with a subtle, romantic flourish on the tie.

That NY casual cool demonstrated immaculately.

Even their school attire is covetable.

Or is it just their covetable genes that do the trick? What do you reckon?

Is it wrong that I watch this? The school uniforms are quite superb…

I tried to watch an episode but couldn’t handle all the frowning. But we can all agree on one thing – crest ties are cool.

Susie: not in the slightest!Thomas: agreed./DCB.

my school uniform made me look like a wattle tree…not so covetable!

  • Allure March 26, 2008 at 10:04 pm

Gossip girl boys are dressed far better than girls, in my opinion.

wow, i never would have imagined you for a fan…well i guess the guys’ fashion is pretty prominent. there’s been a delay in the US die to the “Writer’s Strike” so people have kind of gone off it I think.I may agree with Allure – the girls are always in Party Frocks it seems…

imelda: tell me about it, our grey and wine isn’t exactly the colour combination supreme!selina: indeed!allure: i haven’t noticed a huge difference between the male and female standards but I must admit the menswear seems more style-driven than the fleeting-trend-driven womenswear, but then again isn’t that typical?riz: that bloody strike will have me Desperate Housewives-deficient for the next three weeks! Although, it is about time. Re: the party frocks, I agree to an extent. They’re either butt-skimming Sienna disco numbers or costume/mock ‘couture’ outfits, hardly a broad range…/DCB.

Thanks for this post, some of us have dark ages TV and have to rely on the internets for Gossip Girl snippets…

It’s weird but the costuming of that show is miles better than that show could ever be. I hate how the girls are dressed in such blatantly expensive clothing. I live on the UES, I see the “rich” kids and I promise they don’t dress like 1/10th of how anyone one that show is dressed. I do prefer the guys looks because they might be expensive suits, but there’s no real way of telling if it’s from Zara or from Tom Ford. At least to this girl. haha

I can’t get enough of Penn Badgley (Dan Humphrey)…saw him up close last year and he is unbelievable. So sexy. Love the show…Thank god it’s been picked up for a full season.Chuck wears a lot of J.Press…which is a good thing.
