I‘ve made no bones about being DIY-deficient when it comes to clothing and accessories. Often, however, telling someone they’re beyond hopeless at such-and-such and advising them to avoid said such-an-such has the adverse effect. Case in point – my attempt to embellish a long-sleeve tee in a manner akin to that of Gaspard Yurkievich for his SS06 collection.

Doomed from day one would be an understatement, my efforts weren’t entirely fruitless but it seems the stretch cotton wasn’t exactly a prime fibre for the precise pinning of chains (who’d have thunk it?!).
But I’ve not given up entirely, just need to opt-out of the several-a-day coffee habit and steady my jittering hands before tackling the tee one last time and perhaps revising the arrangement of the chains. Pics (providing the project is successful) will arrive in due time. For now, I’m content with having a gawk at London jewellery boutique Kabiri’s dangly bits. Perhaps a chain or two about the neck instead of pinned upon the chest would make for much less finger-pricking and a much more stable state of mind? A resounding yes, I reckon…

don't give up on the DIY!!! You'll have some misses but eventually you'll have some hits, and it's oh so satisfying when you do!
