Seven Boys Toys We Can Realistically Aspire To Owning

What is it that you want? What is that makes you happy in this world? For many of us, it’s having the freedom to do what we like on the weekends, and for others, it’s material things. For me, it’s the combination of being able to do what I like on the weekend with the material things I own! I have absolutely no qualms with people aspiring to buy material goods – in fact, I think that since you worked hard for your money, you should be able to enjoy it however you like. To that end, I have been building up my arsenal of ‘toys’ – if you will – over the years, and now have quite the garage at home. I have always been of the opinion that you should spend your money as you like, and since I have always had a huge fascination with boats and cars, it made sense that I would invest in these kinds of things. In this article I’d like to share some of my knowledge about ‘boys toys’ (as they are often known), so that you too can compile your very own wish list. A note here as well, if I may! I know that many of the boys toys out there are things like lamborghinis, massive yachts – you know, your catamarans and multihulls; but in the list I’m creating I’ve erred on the side of conservativeness, in the sense that I reckon all of these are definitely attainable.

Boat

Top of the list for me would have to be the boat. I love a great catamaran, and from a very early age I had always wanted to have a big boat to get out on over the weekends. You can invest in a boat for a pretty reasonable amount – and I’ve even heard of people getting catamarans in partnership with people to spread the cost around.

SUV

Next up on the list is the typical suburban boy toy, the SUV. I love a great four-wheel-drive car, and having a good SUV makes for the ultimate in weekend adventure trips. If you have a family as well, it’s a no-brainer as far as purchasing a car is concerned, because an SUV is a great choice as far as safety goes.

Barbecue

Nothing says boys toy like the good ol’ Aussie barbecue. I’m not talking about your stock standard barbecue here either, I’m talking about the big four or six burner with spit attachment! After all, if you’re going to do something, you may as well do it properly!

VR Headset for Gaming

While I love getting out and camping with the family, sometimes I love playing the Playstation on my weekends off. When I do, I like to use a VR headset to get that truly immersive experience! If you haven’t tried VR before you should get out and try it at one of the many arcades around. You don’t have to spend a fortune on the headset, either, as this guide illustrates.

Big screen TV

When you are playing on the standard Playstation, it doesn’t make any sense at all to play on a small screen TV – no you need the biggest baddest TV you can find! Wall mount the TV, or better yet, use a projector for a full on gaming experience.

Sports car

Ok, I know we covered SUVs but what about the sports car? This is the ultimate boys toy in that it’s a car just for you. As a sports car, you’re probably not going to have more than two seats which means the kids can’t climb in and get their sticky hands all over the leather! Big marks for Porsche, Audi and Alfa Romeo…

Dronecopter

Last on the list (but certainly not least) is the dronecopter. Drones have been everywhere of late, from the chap who dropped in at Bunnings to get a snag to various other uses in videos and popular content online. I reckon they’re a great addition to your arsenal of boys toys!

Ok gents, now you’re armed with your list, all you’ve got to do is convince the ol’ ball and chain to let you out on the weekends to drive the boat around! Just kidding – she’ll be the one working on you to take her out on the water while you’re going to want to stay at home playing Battlefield with your new VR gaming headset!
