When it comes to choosing your footwear, one of your main concerns should be comfort. Whether it’s a pair of brogues for the office or some sneakers for a day out around town, you’ll need shoes that keep you comfy but looking good on the go.

Here are some of our favourite menswear styles for a comfortable yet fashionable day out.

Trainers

A good pair of trainers is always a good choice. A casual, non-running specific pair are your best bet for some everyday style. You can opt for a pair of Nike trainers in flat-soled tennis styles or go for a more classic choice with Adidas Stan Smiths.

Brogues

A pair of brogues can be a classy but comfortable choice if you pick the right pair. Choose a real leather pair that can be softened over time. Slide a pair of insoles into them to ensure comfort even when you have to do a lot of walking.

Desert boots

A piece of footwear that was originally a favourite of mods, the desert boot was pioneered by Clarks and is a casual classic that can be paired with jeans to create an out-of-the-office-into-the-pub style. They’re available in both leather and suede, but bear in mind leather tends to last longer.

Loafers

Casual but increasingly popular, loafers are a retro style making a big comeback. Generally worn without socks, loafers can be purchased in lots of different head-turning styles or more muted brown or black leather to wear to business meetings. They’re great for warmer weather.

Chelsea boots

Another slip-on style, Chelsea boots are comfortable from the get-go and easy to get on and off. They’re a popular style for both men and women and can be worn to various events, from an upmarket wedding to a business meeting or a night out on the town. Best when paired with suit trousers or jeans, a brown pair of Chelsea boots under some blue jeans and a suit jacket is an increasingly popular business-casual look.
