Someone’s fetching Cheap Monday’s
These are good days for denim. High-street giant H&M has just bought out Fabric Scandinavien which owns Cheap Monday – the much-adored casual label – and plans to expand the brand and generally, broaden its horizons. Sounds sincere but considering the crux of business is profit, I’m not so sure. Still, more Cheap Monday can only be good. Note that the big-time retailer will not alter Cheap Monday’s designs and doesn’t plan to sell the wares in H&M stores.

Acne Gentleman’s Jeans

Additionally, one of my favourite magazine editors has just tried his hand at denim design. Yes, the delightfully direct, butt-loving Gert Jonkers of Fantastic Man and BUTT was consulted for the production of Acne’s latest line – Gentleman’s Jeans. Fantastic Man’s art director, Jop van Bennekom, also chipped in and the results, I can say, at least look great, I’m ignorant regarding the fit unfortunately. Try the creased jeans for yourself at Colette and Acne.

UPDATE: “Let it hang!” – Victoria Beckham’s detestation of skinny jeans on men leads to mens denim under the dVb label. More here.

People talk a lot about BUTT, I guess I should take a seriously look at that Zine

Imelda’s most excited about the expansion of Cheap Monday (sitting here typing in the old black CM’s I bought in London 18 months ago) BUTT let’s not forget the GRUESOME Acme/ Birkenstock collaboration!!!!!I’ll reserve my judgement on this one, till I get a bow peep at goods.

i juat saw the pictures of the Gentleman’s Jeans in the new issue of Fantastic Man…I’m a fan!I like the fact that Cheap Mondays are elusive. I’ve been to Stockholm where they are literally everywhere and they lost their appeal. I tohught I’d walk away with 10 pairs but the choice was just more than my little brain could take and I only have one pair to my name!

Great news. If only Cheap Monday jeans would last a little longer. They stretch so easily.

I’d love to see the Acne jeans in person…

i love my battered balck pair of CMs, even if theyre now very faded. they’re still the most throwable-on pair of jeans i’ve ever owned. the polo shirts are just right too. hopefully H&M can keep up the quality and cut without too much dilution…xS

As a huge fan of Cheap Mondays I see this as very bad news. Diluted brand, ubiquitous availability, stupider looking products – the whole shebang. I’d better buy all the ones I can find before they have giant skulls all over them.I still can’t find a copy of Fantastic Man anywhere. Canada is kicking me again and again.

i cant speak too much on CMs, i tried on a pair once and decided they were not the jeans for me and never looked back.and im really not mad at victoria for doing her thing.
